ATA loves leather. We're smitten by hides. The smell. The touch. The array of attributes. The wondrous outcomes when leather is crafted into receptacles by hand. We're excited to create products featuring multitudes of compartments and numerous options to wear and hold.

Rachelle Dendle Crerar is ATA's founder, and creative director since the brand's inception in 2009. Adoring receptacles, she aims to deliver effortless multifunctional organisation.

Upon graduating from East Sydney Fashion School, she started working for leading Australian accessories company Mimco, where she spent seven years as Senior Creative. In 2009, Dendle Crerar decided to take her passion for leather goods into her own hands.  Years working with masters ensured she instinctively understood that leather vessels (bags) need to marry function and form, striking an emotional chord at the same time. The balance is delicate.

ATA History. Starting the brand with 12 distinct shapes, in the belief that every woman prefers a different bag shape over another, the brand has matured with the accessories landscape in recent years. Today ATA presents an arresting collection of signature bag and wallet shapes – indispensable carriers.

Every ATA receptacle is hammered by hand or guided through a leather machine by a knowing craftsperson with decades of leather experience. Each finishing process in our happy workshop is lovingly laborious.

2015 saw the introduction of custom-made footwear, ATA Sole. Hand-crafted in the ATA Sydney Workroom - designed, cut and lasted by hand using our imported Italian leathers.  We're hands-on and we love it.

Rachelle Dendle Crerar resides with her husband and wee son in Sydney, Australia: surrounded by an explosion of foliage.

Our ATA Sole footwear is designed and handmade in our Australian workroom, using Italian leathers and traditional shoemaking techniques. Lasted on our signature elongated style, the shoes are skived, stitched, embossed and finished by hand.

Our shoemaker Robert has 40 years experience developing and crafting footwear all over the globe. Starting out in his father's cobbler shop, he is self taught and trained. Every ATA shoe is made with great care and passion; we're so very proud of these beauties.

Each pair of ATA shoes are 100% leather. Leather soles, leather heels, leather uppers and suede lining. The signature ATA leathers are custom made for both our Carry & Small editions, then shipped to Australia for our custom made shoes.

The padded footbed has arched cushioning beneath the leather insole. Each pair are crafted specifically per order and we offer a remake service, if needed, to ensure they fit you perfectly. We also offer your choice of outsole stain colour and Brass or Gun hardware finish, truly custom made.

ATA creates handmade leather goods. Leather is a natural product that ages, changes and softens over time.

All ATA leathers are dyed, tanned and skived to specification, ensuring a natural finish.  There are always variations in leather – from back to front, from bag to bag. Such variations are characteristic of this wonderful natural medium: slight imperfections are entirely normal.
ATA products are assembled by our wonderful makers in our small workshop in South China, who are highly accomplished at working with our custom made Italian leathers. ATA product marries distinctive characteristics with peerless attention to detail.

To help your bag age gracefully, apply a spritz of 'Bag Butler' by Murchison-Hume, a leather cleaner and conditioner. It's essential that leather stays hydrated.  Apply the 'Bag Butler' on a lint-free cloth, not directly on the item, letting the leather dry between applications. Try an inconspicuous area first as the application may darken certain leathers.

For the best possible care of leather, keep away from denim (colour pigments may transfer), non colour-fast garments, make-up spills, perfume, alcohol, water and direct sources of heat and concentrated light. Coloured leather may also transfer pigment to light coloured clothing. Light coloured leather is vulnerable to marking and sensitive to light. Discolouration may occur over time.

If the product requires concentrated cleaning, we strongly recommend taking it to a local boot-maker or leather specialist skilled in working with leather. If you attempt to clean your ATA product, you do so entirely at your own risk. The cleaning and care is dependent on the type of leather (see next column).

Do not overfill your ATA product. Fittings are manufactured to hold a specific weight and will not withstand heavy objects or an impractical number of belongings. Always store your product in the dust bag provided when not in use.

Each hide is crafted to specification resulting in variations from one to the next. If leather is wet, pat gently with a lint-free cloth. The best maintenance for longevity is achieved by using a nourishing spritz of 'Bag Butler' by Murchison-Hume, specifically designed for leather.

Please note that lighter colours will mark more easily. Keep away from pigmented denim, non colour-fast garments, make-up spills, alcohol, water and direct sources of heat and concentrated light. If leather is wet, do not wipe. Pat gently with a lint-free cloth. Employ a nourishing cream such as 'Bag Butler'. Apply the conditioner on a lint-free cloth, not directly onto the leather.

These hides are drum-dyed then sprayed with a reflective metallic finish.
Keep away from pigmented denim, non colour-fast garments, make-up spills, alcohol, water and direct sources of heat and concentrated light. If leather is wet, do not wipe. Pat gently with a lint-free cloth. Avoid rubbing against abrasive surfaces as the metallic will wear.

All leather products are lined with a woven ATA signature lining. All Move Editions are lined with a water-proof lining, for an easy clean. Linings may be washed very carefully with a lukewarm wet cloth and mild soap. Do not wet the exterior of the bag.

Apply sparingly to a lint-free cloth, then to the surface of the leather. The cream will penetrate the leather quickly, protecting, nourishing and prolonging the life of the skin. No need to polish after application. Do not use on suede or Nubuck. Test on a non-visible area of the product first. For a high-shine surface, polish the leather gently with a lint-free cloth, if necessary.
